- Keeping the battery level in the middle range (e.g. 20% to 80%) will help prolong the life of the lithium battery. Try to avoid charging when the battery level is too low (e.g. below 20%). Charge the battery as soon as it is depleted.
- If possible, avoid charging the lithium battery to full capacity too often. Generally speaking, even frequent short-term charging (e.g. unplugging after only 10% charge) will not accelerate the aging of lithium batteries.
- Batteries are usually warmer when they are fast-charged, and high temperatures accelerate the aging of lithium batteries. Therefore, it is recommended to use lower voltage and current for charging if possible. In addition, the use of products during charging also leads to high battery temperatures, which should be avoided as much as possible.
- High or low temperatures, such as below 0℃ or above 35℃, will shorten the battery life. Batteries should be placed in a cool and dry place, avoiding direct sunlight or obstructing heat dissipation. In addition, in cold environments (e.g., where the temperature is below 0°C), it is advisable to place lithium batteries and products with built-in lithium batteries in a bag to keep them warm when they are not in use, in order to protect the lithium batteries.
- If the lithium batteries or products with built-in lithium batteries will not be used for a longer period of time, they should be charged to a medium level (e.g., about 40% to 50% charge) first. Recharging the battery every few months to return it to a medium level of charge will help maintain the lithium battery in a “healthy” condition.
